Why HUMILITY is a pathway to a healthier life and a more successful career… Humility is commonly defined as the ability to maintain an honest view of one’s strengths and weaknesses without false modesty or self-deprecation. In social circles, true humility is often seen as a process of honest self-appraisal where successes are recognized and areas for improvement are embraced. That said, it goes without saying that humility is an important component of becoming a better person. After all, how can you achieve a better version of yourself if you don’t embrace your flaws and acknowledge the areas in which you truly shine? Truly, humility is important in day-to-day life. … but did you know that trait is not just applicable to your personal life but also to your career? Here’s what this global CEO has to say about it… The Power of Humility In one of his coaching sessions with his team, Professor Joel Litman , the Chairman and CEO of Valens Research and Chief Investment Officer of Altimetry Financial Research , talked about the importance and power of humility. He said humility is a powerful tool as it helps you become stronger, let go of unhelpful ideas, and release negative emotions. More importantly, humility equips you with a mindset that’s conducive to collaboration and professional growth. This is because when you’re humble, you become much more willing to say, “this is how I do things, but maybe there’s a better way of doing this.” When you’re equipped with that mindset, you’re much more likely to innovate and reinvent how you get things done. Moreover, you’ll be more receptive to the feedback given by your peers. The result? You’re in a state of continuous growth and you’re much more collaborative with those you work with. Aside from its professional benefits, Professor Litman also highlighted the organizational benefits of having humility deeply ingrained in a company’s culture. He emphasized that even though his team operates with some level of task hierarchy, everyone who works in his firm treats each other as equals, fostering a culture where everyone is eager to learn and collaborate with one another. — To sum it all up, humility is key not only to a better personal life, but also to professional growth. After all, without this trait, respect breaks down, collaboration suffers, and room for improvement declines. So, if you want to become a better person and level up in your career, make sure to be humble.Whatever it is you’re doing at work, do it with humility, as this will create an atmosphere that fosters improvement and growth.
